Before her acting career

When Jennette was around two years old, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and was in the hospital for bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. During that time, Jennette and her three brothers would watch Star Wars 4, 5, and 6 to keep their minds at ease and live by their motto which was: "The Force is with mommy; she can do this; she'll be OK; the Force is with her".

After Jennette's mother recovered, she asked her mother if she could be in the movies, after seeing Harrison Ford as Hans Solo in Star Wars. At age eight, Jennette first appeared on MADtv in 2000 playing as Cassidy Gifford. She would then make guest appearances for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Malcolm in the Middle, Lincoln Heights, Will & Grace, Zoey 101 and True Jackson VP. In 2003, she had the chance to act with her inspiration, Harrison Ford, in the movie Hollywood Homicide where she played as the Van Family Daughter. In 2005, she was nominated for Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Television Series - Guest Starring Young Actress for her performance in Strong Medicine.

A few years later, Jennette got her starring role in the Nickelodeon series, iCarly in September of 2007 playing as Samantha Puckett. Since then she has been in ever episode except for one due to illness: iWon't Cancel the Show

Terminology used by Jennette and fans alike

Bilgerdunday A word that Jennette made up as part of her own language. It is sometimes shortened to bilger or bil. According to Jennette, this is what the word means: "it's sort of a term of endearment I guess I would say. I made it up, haha"
Buttersock A weapon that she used in her character Sam Puckett on iCarly. It is unclear whether the butter is frozen or room temperature, but it must be replaced regularly to avoid mold. This weapon, while seems harmless, has the power to knock people down in an instant and cause an incredible amount of damage.
Salty A word originally used in her Twitter bio as a joke: "eat my tweets and let me know how they taste. salty?". Over time the use of the word salty has been re-used until Jennette defined herself as being salty.
Nugget This word, originally coined by Jennette McCurdy, unofficially means friend. Often used to replace the word fans, she has also used it for Dan Schneider (August 31, 2011).
Loze Originally started in January 27th 2013, with the tweet: "I LOZE you (the new love)". Not to be confused with the word "lose", it is a special bonding word that is used both for Jennette and her McCurdians. It means the same as the word love.
