Styleblazer got a chance to chat with Jennette McCurdy before her runway performance on the Go Red For Women fashion show. In their exclusive interview, she shared her fashion inspiration, how her personal style has grown, and more information about her new role in the Netflix series “Between”:
On her initial reaction of being chosen to the walk in the Red Dress Collection Show: And I quote: ‘WHAT THE?!'”
On how she prepared to walk down the runway: I definitely do not have it in my blood to emulate any models,” she laughed. I’m just gonna have fun and walk with confidence.”
Since the show is to help raise awareness of heart disease, what have you learned that you’d want to share with all girls?: Heart disease is highly preventable. There are tons of easy ways to reduce the risk of getting it.”
On how her personal style has grown since Sam and Cat”: Lately, I’ve been really into oxfords, platform shoes, black boots, collared shirts, Wildfox, basics from American Apparel, fun pieces from Zara, black tights with skirts, and my classic Tumi backpack.”
Tell us about your new role in Netflix series Between”. How does it compare to working with Nickelodeon?: I play a character named Wiley. She’s at a place in her life where she doesn’t feel connected to too many people, she’s very lost and alone and trying to figure herself out. Sometimes she comes across as cynical, sometimes reckless, sometimes thoughtless, but in her heart of hearts she just wants to feel understood. Between is a drama, so content wise it’s not similar to Nickelodeon at all. It was a really fun and educational experience for me. I’m so glad I got to work on the show.
With recent celeb hackings, what advice do you have for young girls when it comes to social media/selfies, etc.? Remember that whatever you post on the Internet is in pen, not pencil. I wish I would’ve known this advice on several occasions in the past.”
Are you still in touch with co-stars Miranda Cosgrove and Ariana Grande?: I see Miranda every other day practically. She’s my best friend. I tell her everything and trust her implicitly. I actually recently saw Ariana and was really happy to have a great conversation with her.”
Who is your style icon?: Anyone who envelops their own personality with what they wear. Michael Jackson, Gwen Stefani, Emma Stone, etc.”
You recently got bangs! How’s the hair transformation? Anything you’d never try hair wise?: I love bangs. I feel like me with them. I would probably never go for a pixie cut. I have to draw the line somewhere,” she laughed.
We love your new song Like Like.” Are you working on any new music? Thanks! I work on music as a hobby, not a career, so it’s something I’m dabbling in all the time for fun and posting when I feel like it. Glad you enjoy!!”
